As tournament season wraps up at the state levels across Minnesota, middle school math stars—128 of them–from across the state gathered in Plymouth for the state’s annual MATHCOUNTS Competition March8-9.
Minnetonka Middle School East’s MATHCOUNTS team took first place in the 2024 contest. Rochester’s Kellogg Middle School team took second place, with Minnetonka Middle School West taking third place in the annual event. Wayzata Middle School East took fourth place.
Pan Yan coached Minnetonka East’s team, Jack Faillor coached the Rochester Kellogg team, Morgan Cronin coached Minnetonka West’s team, Kati Gjevre coached the Wayzata East team.
Next up for the state’s top middle school mathletes, a trip to the national competition in Washington, D.C. ,May 11-13. Minnesota will send its four top mathletes to the national Competition in Washington, D.C., May 11-13. Kellogg’s Jack Faillor will coach the national team.
