2012 State Competition Results

Top individual winners of the 2012 state MATHCOUNTS competition (in order of finish) are:
1. Daniel Qu, Wayzata Central Middle School, Plymouth, grade 8
2. Henry Wang, Kellogg Middle School, Rochester, grade 8.
3. Ken Han, Eden Prairie Central Middle School, grade 8.
4. Jacob Nelson, Robbinsdale Middle School, grade 8.
These four won top honors from among 129 participants representing 45 schools at the 29th annual competition held Saturday, March 24, at the Radisson Conference Center in Pymouth.
The four students form the state team that will represent Minnesota in Orlando, Florida, May 11, to compete in the national MATHCOUNTS competition against teams from throughout the United States.
Placing fifth and sixth were:
5. Jeffrey Lee, Wayzata Central Middle School, Plymouth, grade 8
6. Trevor Moore, Eden Prairie Middle School, grade 8
These two students will act as alternates should any of the top four be unable to attend.

The first place team at the meet was Valley View Middle School, Edina. Team members are: Michael Tang, grade 7, Kenrick Bjelland, grade 8, Alan Lu, grade 8, and Jenny Zhang, grade 7
